food4future KickOff Meeting

Under the direction of Prof. Dr. Monika Schreiner (Leibniz Institute for Vegetable and Ornamental Plant Production), ten partner institutions are working on researching and developing sustainable food systems for future generations.

The focus is on alternative food sources such as macroalgae, salt plants, crickets and jellyfish as well as indoor cultivation systems, analyzes and digital tools. The vision: food production that conserves resources and integrates urban space.

The second funding phase

  •   Development and scaling of innovative cultivation systems
  •   Sustainable use of material side streams
  •   Promote the acceptance of alternative foods through high-quality end products
  •   Transfer of technologies into practice

food4future is supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The next few years will be characterized by intensive collaboration, technical innovations and international exchange. You can find more information about our sub-projects and partners on our website.
