On April 29, 2025, the kick-off meeting of the new BLE project SolKubiM - Brine-based cultivation systems for inland macro- and microalgae took place at the Bad Saarow thermal spa. The overall aim of the project is to set up an innovative, brine-powered aquaculture facility to produce high-quality algae biomass and thus open up new fields of use (e.g. cosmetics) as a case study for the Bad Saarow site.

The project, coordinated by Dr. Anna Fricke (IGZ), is supported by a consortium of various partners, including the Leibniz Institute of Vegetable and Ornamental Crops (IGZ), the University of Bayreuth, IGV GmbH, Viva Maris GmbH and Bad Saarow Kur GmbH. The collaboration between these institutions aims to promote the development and implementation of sustainable and future-proof land-based algae biomass production.

food4future is proud to be part of SolKubiM together with Dr. Anna Fricke. The projects complement each other perfectly in their vision to develop innovative approaches for the food production of the future. We look forward to the collaboration and exciting developments.
