Plants’ role in Nutritional Security

On April 21st, the twelfth seminar of a European-wide series by the European Plant Science Organisation (EPSO) will take place. It is aimed at the plant science community and its stakeholders.

In the second year, EPSO continues to provide a stimulating set of seminars once a month on a hot and/or emerging topic in plant science, giving the floor to both eminent world leaders and talented up-and-coming early career researchers.

The 12th EPSO Plant Science Seminar will take place on April 21, 2022 from 3 p.m. (online). food4future coordinator Prof Monika Schreiner, head of  the programme area "Plant Quality and Food Security" at the Leibniz Institute of Vegetable and Ornamental Crops (IGZ) with a lecture on alternative food sources for a healthy and sustainable nutrition.

Other speakers are Dr Angelo Santino (Institute of Sciences of Food Production, Italy), who will speak on novel technologies to improve the nutritional value of tomatoes, and Prof Katia Petroni (University of Milan, Italy) who will give a lecture on the health-promoting effects of anthocyanin-enriched diets against chronic diseases.
